Herbs that are sustainably sourced are grown and harvested in a way that factors in the health of the plant and works to ensure the plant species will be around for generations to come.
Many traditional plants are wild-harvested without regard for long-term effects on the species or the environment. Due to the growing demand for Ayurvedic herbs, this is straining some plant species, and in some cases, these plants are at risk or even endangered. Since our humble beginnings in 1996, Banyan has been working to reverse this trend by only using herbs grown and harvested in an ethical, sustainable manner.
To help achieve this goal, we support projects that work with local farms across India. These projects aim to incentivize local wild-crafters to preserve the future of Ayurvedic herbs by cultivating them responsibly. Learn more about why sustainability matters to the future of Ayurveda and the measures we are taking to ensure our herbal allies' longevity.
