We strive to ensure the highest possible standards for quality control of our herbs. Our system conforms with the reputable standards specified by the AHPA (American Herbal Products Association), a national trade association and voice for the herbal industry. We conduct testing for the following:
Heavy metals: Independent laboratories in the United States test all of our herbs and products for arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury.
Identification: Our expert staff uses both spectrometry and organoleptic testing to identify each herb. Additionally, qualified botanists conduct microscopic identification and other tests at the collection point to verify that what we are harvesting is the correct species.
Pesticides: We do spot testing for pesticides in third-party labs to ensure the integrity of the organic certification of our partner farms.
Microbiologicals: Banyan also requires microbiological testing and certificates of analysis from all of our suppliers for every batch of herbs, in conformity with the tests specified by the AHPA.
